Yesterday I went on a work outing! I went to a seminar which aimed at explaining how and why to implement SEO (search engine optimisation) and other inbound marketing techniques. I knew quite a bit of what was explained anyway, in regards to SEO, but I did learn a few ‘tricks of the trade’ so it was definitely worth going.
The seminar was a few hours long and presented over the course of the morning. Half of the morning was spent explaining how SEO works and why it works as it does. The rest of the seminar was used to explain other inbound marketing, including non-organic SEO, directory listing and how to properly market your website to gain customers and not just website traffic. I’m not going to go into detail for two reasons, I want to keep this post relatively short and I want to retain the information for my own use.
Inbound marketing in case you don’t know is marketing which is released with the intention of attracting people to the media you want them to interact with, but in a non-intrusive way; in my case it will be done with the intention of attracting people to websites I design and develop. Outbound marketing is marketing which is sent to consumers with the same intention (e.g. gaining web traffic) but with a more direct approach; or at least that’s how I think it works.. link below to a Wikipedia article about it:
